 Asha Mwilu Ahmed is a  journalist, editor, investigative reporter and Media personality based in Kenya

She was born on June 7th 1988.

Education

She went to United States International University where she learnt activities and societies, Model of the United Nations international relations club and graduated with a degree in broadcast Journalism in 2007. Later on, she went to The University for the Creative Arts, Farnham thanks to the Chevening Scholarship in 2015.

Career

In June 2010, she started her career working as the Head of News in FM Kenya until December 2011. She then became the senior reporter for politics and special projects at KTN in 2015 where she covered very important events in African history. Some of these events include Terrorism in Northern Kenya by the Al Shabaab, South Sudan war, Nelson Mandela’s death, Westgate Mall attack and the Kenyan General elections.

She covered all the issues on security and politics while in KTN. In addition, she did documentary films as an independent journalist. She then moved to Citizen TV in April 2018 as the special projects editor.

In 2020, Asha Mwilu quit Citizen TV to start her own Media Company, Debunk Media. In the Company, she doubles up as the lead editor. Mwilu revealed in a past interview that she had always thought of producing ‘cool’ content for African audience and that is one of the main reasons why she started the Media Company.

Despite her numerous success, the personality prefers to keep her love life private.

Salary

Her job at Citizen TV used to bring her an estimated salary of KES 400,000 per month. Details about earnings in her new Media Company are yet to be revealed.

Reporter of the year, 2013- by the media council of Kenya for her documentary, ‘’Armies of the Underworld’’

Chevening scholarship, 2015- as the chevening secretariat

CNN African Journalist of the year, October 2016- by CNN international and Multichoice Africa

Her film, ‘’Stuck in Traffic’’ was nominated in June 2018 in Zanzibar
