Best Guide on How to Clean-up Windows 10

Every system builds up junk and unnecessary files and system software that often need to be cleaned up. These files occupy some space in the system and if accumulated for a long time it might occupy too much space. There is a need for a thorough system clean-up so that the system runs smoothly and efficiently.

Avoiding this clean up or allowing the accumulation often leads to system failure or inefficient working of the system. The system will become slow and sometimes make it difficult for someone to use.

How to Clean Up Windows 10

1. Using Disk clean-up

This is a tool to clear old temporary files from your computer. To access the disk clean-up option in your computer, type Disk clean-up on the start menu and choose the disk you want to clean. A window will pop up and you will see unnecessary files that windows can clean up.

You can click on clean up system files if you are the administrator, and this will scan again for additional types of data. Select what you are sure of to avoid cleaning up important system files. If for example, you don’t want to empty the recycle bin, then unselect on the recycle bin and once you are done, click ok for the clean-up process to start.

2. Storage space

To access it, go to settings under Windows 10 then click on System-storage. You can click on configure storage sense so that it can help free up disk space in the case when the disk space runs low. Customize on whichever time you want to delete the temporary files either in the recycle bin or my downloads folder. This acts as similar to the disk clean-up, the only difference is that it can be configured to automatically be doing the cleanup.

3. Delete large files

In windows 10, you can download Treesize free, an application to quickly scan directory sizes and find space logs. This will help to scan your storage and be able to show where your biggest files are. Once you install the application, launch it as an administrator to be able to scan everywhere in the system. To start, choose the select directory in the top-left and select your main storage disk. You will be able to see a visual breakdown of your PC’s storage with the largest files at the top. You can click on the drop-down folder of any folder to move down to one level.

4. Unistall big program

To do this, run windows+R and type a shortcut of appwiz.cpl. This will help you to access the programs installed in your system. Here you can be able to uninstall big programs and be able to free up space. Doing these simple practices in your computer system will help make your system run smoothly and effectively.
