The common belief is that witchdoctors live in a poor state despite their activities. This is true, for the most part as most of them are still in poverty. Some, however, have gone against this common belief and are living lavish lives. One such witchdoctor is Anna Mutheu who is one of the most popular doctors in Kenya. She hails from Tala in Machakos County. Her home allegedly costs Ksh40 Million. He defies these common beliefs against what people believe they are.
“Most people believe that witchdoctors are impoverished and live miserable lives. That is not correct. I am a wealthy woman and my juju business has made me wealthy”, She explained to the Nairobian. Anna’s mansion has one storey building with a pool and a garage. The garage is filled with high end lavish cars. Her income is steady as she has customers everyday
Mutheu received an estimate of 60-80 customers per day. The witchdoctor consultation fee is Ksh1000 per person which adds up to almost 70,000 each day. Although her juju gives her some money, majority of her money is from the business she has. She has made investments in the real estate and matatus. Anna has acres of land in Malindi, Nairobi and Nakuru. Despite her juju, she is a devout Christian and attends church each Sunday. She gives thanks to her mother who she says introduced her to the business.
