Josphat Koli Nanok is a Kenyan politician who served as governor for Turkana County for two terms. He is a member of the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) and is the chairman of the Council of Governors.
He was born in 1950 in Turkana County, Kenya.
Early life and family
The ex governor has kept much of his early life private and not much detail is known about his childhood. He is however, a Turkana and so is his family. It is the place he grew up in.
Josphat is said to have attended University of Nairobi where he majored in Political Science and History. He is also and alumni of Strathmore University.
Koli started his political career in 2007 where he competed for the Turkana South Constituency seat and won. He served there until the 2013 general elections. While he was a Member of Parliament, he also served as the assistant minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development.
He was elected the first governor for Turkana County in 2013 and was reelected in the 2017 general elections. Before joining politics, he has worked for some other top organizations and consultancies like the UN and WPF in almost all the East African Countries.

Governor Nanok is happily married and with kids. The public does not know much about his family but they attended his inauguration as governor and he has mentioned them a few times.
He has been in the past been bashed by netizens after he claimed immunity from criminal prosecution of governors following the arrest of one of their own for wrong use of office. He was also criticized for throwing shade at the Uhuru government and saying that they are not allocating enough money to Turkana County.
This year, the party leader ODM, Raila Odinga declared that the governor had publicly announced his team by choosing their opponents the “Tanga Tanga”. They announced that his position in the party had been taken by another MP, allegations he came forward to deny saying he had not anything of the sort and was not informed of the removal.
