A number of World class dont find speaking English a big deal. Football is a universal language which most can understand but it can hinder the settling process, or ease and seal marketing deals.
Below are four football stars who don’t speak English.
1. Antonio Valencia
The former Manchester United Captain and winger never conducted an interview in English despite being in England for more than twelve years. Valencia had asked for one-to-one tuition to get himself up to scratch but it was hard for him he left united just as he came.
2. Lionel Messi
The Barcelona footballer always speaks in spanish, when he is asked something in English by a reporter he answers to them in Spanish. Most of his interviews and questionares are in spanish hence he rarely has a chance to practice english. Maybe if he moves to City in the next summer he may learn some English.
3. Neymar Jr
The PSG winger may not have seen the importance of learning English while in Spain and now Paris. Even though He hangs out with American stars, and one would think he can actually speak the lingo, but he can’t.
4. Diego Costa
Having moved to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid, and back to Atletico again the Spanish striker still won’t speak an English word despite being in England for three years.
