John Njogu Njoroge, populary known as Njogu wa Njoroge is a popular kikuyu presenter. John is the current chairperson of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).

Age

Njogu was born on 16^th March in Nakuru.

Family and Background

The presenter was born in Matiume village in Nakuru County. He was born in a very humble family and background.

Education

John attended Daystar University for his Tertiary education.

Career

Growing up, Njogu wa Njoroge wanted to be a football commentator. He started this when he was very young and used to do it from tree tops. Before joining the media industry, John worked as a casual laborer in a construction site. He used to earn Ksh. 300 per day.

His journey in the mainstream media started in 2001. He joined KBC in 2003 where he hosted a show on his own. This was before moving to Kameme FM . He hosted the Arahuka breakfast show which gained him popularity.

Other than Kameme FM, Njogu Njoroge has worked in other media stations including; Gukena FM, Inooro FM and Kameme TV.

The popular media personality vied for the Njoro MP seat on a UDA ticket but lost in the primaries.

In February 2023, John Njoroge was appointed as the chairperson of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB). The appointment was made by Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts through a Gazette notice.

Njogu wa Njoroge Wives and Children

Njogu  wedded his second wife, Mary Lincoln in a traditional ceremony held in 2020.  Mary is a gospel musician and divorcee and their union sparked reactions and huge debate on social media.

Both have children from their previous marriages. Njogu’s daughter from his first marriage, Maureen Njogu, scored a clean A of 83 points in her KCSE exams.

However, it is not clear why Njogu divorced his first wife.
