The 2021 KCSE exams have faced a number of challenges including rampant reports of cheating. The exams have been going on for the second week now. Despite warnings from the ministry of education and the CS for education, several administrators have already been arrested for exam malpractice. The principal Kiseveni Secondary School in Machakos County is one of the people of have found themselves in hot soup.
Machakos DCIO Rhoda Kanyi led detectives to ABC Kiseveni Secondary School where they arrested school head, Betta Mutuku. Betta was arrested for posting KCSE Mathematics paper on her Whatsapp hours before the actual exam started. The principal uploaded the whole set of paper on her status for her students to revise, Betta claims.
This goes against the KNEC examination rules. No teacher is allowed to post examination related content on any platform. Her phone has been confiscated to aid in the investigations.
The Education Cabinet Secretary, Professor George Magoha, has already warned of dire consequences to any teacher found breaking the rules. School heads and students have been warned against engaging in any exam malpractices.
