Mark Masai initially known as Abdullahi Kasim is a popular Kenyan journalist, media personality and news anchor. He is widely known for his fluent British accent as well as his good looks. His British accent is owed to him spending a huge part of his childhood in the United Kingdom.

He was born on October 20th 1985 in Narok County.

Mark Masai Background and Family

Mark’s mother, Fatuma Abdullahi was Muslim and a teenager when she gave birth to him. This was in Narok County where he was abandoned as she could not handle that and her family was against it. He was adopted by an English woman, Mary Wright, who was a British missionary.

Mary was very strict and insisted that they talk English while they were at home. He still kept contact with her biological mother who reconnected him to his father after completing high school, although they did not talk much. Mark Masai joined The African Children’s Choir which enabled him to travel around the globe.

Education

The popular presenter has a degree in Social Communication from Tangaza College in Karen. He joined a choir while young and they offered him a scholarship to get his degree.

Career

Masai worked as an intern at Hope FM while still in the university. He was immediately approached by Radio Africa after graduating and Mark later moved to Classic FM where he did several commercials. His great presenting skills landed him a job at NTV in 2008 where he was the youngest presenter with just 22 years.

His news coverage and research was focused on human rights and environment and one of his popular reports on pollution on Dandora dam. He quit NTV to work for CCTV Africa where he had a chance to travel, one of the things he enjoys a lot. Mark Masai finally went back to NTV and was welcomed well. He works at NTV to date.

Mark Masai Marriage

Mark is happily married to Fiona Nduta after they dated for a long time. They were married in 2015 in an invites only colorful wedding. They welcomed their first daughter, Nashipae on November 8th.

Considering his popularity in the media industry and his love for fancy cars, he earns an approximate of Ksh 600,000 per month.
