Shaffie Weru is a Kenyan radio presenter, MC, entertainer and TV host.

Age

He was born on 25^th May in the famous Kibera slums in Nairobi.

Family

Shaffie is the first born in a family of three siblings, two boys and a girl. He was raised by his Kikuyu father and Nubian mother although his mother’s influence on him was greater. He speaks Nubian and understands Kikuyu but is not able to speak it.

Shaffie Education

Weru joined Chuka High School in 1994 and finished with a grade B. He later got a diploma in Mass Communication from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication where he majored in TV and radio production and graduated in 1999.

Career

He started out as a journalist at the Royal Media Services where he later worked as a sports reporter and producer up to 2001. Shaffie then moved to Radio and started working for Kiss FM alongside Kalekye Mumo in a very popular morning show before Kalekye left the station. He then worked with Adelle Onyango before leaving to work for Homeboyz Radio. Shaffie doubled up as host to the Happy Hour Show on Switch TV.

Shaffie Weru Controversy

In March 2021, Shaffie Weru together with DJ Joe Mfalme and Neville Musya made controversial remarks on Gender based Violence on Homeboyz Radio. After uproar from Kenyans and organizations, the radio station terminated their employment on 28^th March, 2021. The station cited breach of editorial policies by the trio.

Shaffie is known to be a big partyholic and controversial in terms of speech. He is also known for his beef with Maina Kageni after calling him a home wrecker on his morning show

Shaffie dated Debbie Asila for a long time and most people believed they were going to get married but they broke up for reasons undisclosed to the public. Their relationship resulted in his first daughter, Milan.

There were a number of speculations about his love life before he finally confirmed that he was married to Jada Mwihaki. He has two other children from Jada, his daughter Nia and son Tyron. His love for his children is known as he gifted his daughter a car worth 5 million when she was just 3 years old!
