The former Mt Elgon MP John Serut today succumbed to cancer. He has been battling the illness for quite a while. His daughter took to social media in August to ask for financial help. They had an outstanding bill of Sh20 Million.

John passed away aged 67 years.
Career
He started his political career after he was elected Mt Elgon MP in 2002. Serut was part of the KANU party. In 2007, he lost the elections to an ODM candidate. He vied in 2013 and won but lost in 2017 again under Jubilee party.
Family
The late had one known daughter called Mitchelle.
John Serut Death
John started ailing in early January 2020 and he passed on at Nairobi hospital. His daughter admitted that she grew up rich and never expected she would be asking for financial help.
