Stories of prophets or rather false prophets are a common thing in not only Kenya but all over the world. These “prophets” and pastors have raised many controversies that have left many people questioning. A pastor who refers himself to as Prophet Elvis Mbonye is one among them and has caused a lot of controversy. Elvis owns a lot of wealth he has accumulated over the years and is valued at Ugx650 Million. He is among the richest people in Uganda.
His wealth is something he does not fail to showcase. He owns a fleet of cars, jets and even a golden chair at his church. The church is no doubt one of the biggest in Uganda as he also travels all over the continent to give ‘divine pronouncements.
One thing that has left a lot of people in shock is his followers not only worship him but kiss his feet like a god. It is said that Elvis makes them as he is the modern self proclaimed prophet. His loyal followers have in the past shown a lot of disturbing behavior leaving people talking. A bombing was experienced in Kyandondo Uganda by the Al-Shabaab where he claimed that he had predicted it and warned his followers. This, of course as expected, caused a lot of uproar amongst some other people.
He established his church Zoe Fellowship Ministries in 1998 and has since grown into one of the biggest. Mbonye attracts crowds as he claims many of the things he has prophesied have come to pass. Apart from the bombing, it is said that he also “predicted” the 2018 Oscar Award winners.
