Jackson Kiplagat Arap Mandago is a Kenyan politician who was the first governor for Uasin Gishu County. Kiplagat is currently serving as the Senator Uasin Gishu County. He was one of the most popular governors in Kenya due to his blunt remarks and honest comments in political matters.

Age

He was born on 5th May 1974 in Uasin Gishu County in Kenya.

Education

The governor is highly educated. He attended Kenyatta University where he studied for a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. He later proceeded to Catholic University of East Africa where he got his master’s degree in procurement and strategic planning.

Career

Jackson worked for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for a while before his decision to indulge into politics. He also worked for the ministry of Education a while after that. Mandago vied for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in 2013 and won therefore becoming the first governor for the county of Uasin Gishu. He defeated a popular billionaire businessman Zedekiah Kiprop in the elections that was a close one. Jackson is currently the patron for the Uasin Gishu rotary club and also the agriculture Show in Kenya, Uasin Gishu sector.

Mandago also has a position in the Council of Governors where he is the vice chairman of the agriculture committee. In 2021, Mandago vied for the Senatorial seat after serving two terms as governor. He won and is currently the Senator for Uasin Gishu County.

Jackson Mandago Marriage

He is happily married to Lucy Mandago who is the first lady for Uasin Gishu County. They are blessed with kids although the exact amount is unknown.

Controversy

Kiplagat is known for being really honest with what he says to everyone and some of his remarks have brought trouble upon him. He also got into trouble with the residents at one time after driving hawkers out of the Eldoret CBD. There were protests at one point in his county over police killing residents and he was severely criticized for not looking into the matter.
