Ugenya:34 Year Old Detained After Killing Wife At A Drinking Den

A 34-year-old has been detained by Police in Ugenya Sub-County after allegedly killing his wife. They had an ongoing conflict that erupted yesterday.

The suspect identified as Kevin Onyango is reported to have come back from his whereabouts and discovered his wife’s absence. He then followed the wife to a local drinking den in Jera village where he attacked and beat her mercilessly to death.

According to the report by detectives, the suspect is currently detained at Siaya Police Station awaiting trial in a court of law. Autopsy tests reveal that the suspect descended on the deceased until she was no more before onlookers rushed to the crime scene to separate them.

The suspect was arraigned in court earlier today after detectives pleaded with Ukwala Senior Magistrate Court for more days to conclude the probe. Judge Christabel Agutu declined three days as proposed by officers and only issued 24 hours to conclude their findings relating to the alleged criminal offense.

Kevin will be arraigned in court on Wednesday dated 15/9/2021. He will be charged with an account of murder following submission of sufficient evidence to the court of law.

The deceased identified as Emmaculate Mayavi, aged 42, was reported dead after her husband pushed her on a wheelbarrow to look for medical attention. The Police further warned of lawlessness that has increased deaths reported in Siaya County.
