Hassan Jumaa is a Swahili sports anchor, editor and producer at the local station KTN. He is commonly known for unique and interesting sign off where he prolongs his name as ‘Jumaaaa’. Many think of this as an exaggeration but is actually his real and official name said in  his native language.

He was born on 10^th October 1980 in Golini Village located in Malindi County.

Background

Juma is off the Digo tribe, a Mijikenda sub tribe and his family hails from that part of Mombasa County. His known family is his grandma whom he says gave him the name ‘Jumaaa’ and is proud of his family.

Hassan Jumaa Education

Hassan Jumaa went to Bamburi Primary found Mombasa County up to class four. He later on transferred to Herman Germaine Primary School in Eldoret where he finished his primary schooling in 1994. The presenter then went to United States International University (USIU) and graduated with a degree in Mass Communication and International Relations. He was a goalkeeper in both High school and university. Hassan Jumaa says that USIU was where he learnt most of his important skills that have been significant in his life.

Career                                   

His career debuted in KTN in December 2006 where he says that he was not received well by most of the editors. Most did not appreciate his name pronunciation and thought he was doing it for show and attention. They however, came to accept him and understand that it was because of his culture and background. He is the producer of the popular show Zilizala Viwanjani that airs every evening from every Monday to Friday. Hassan Jumaa also produces and hosts Utesi Ugani show every Sunday at 6.30. His breakthrough came when he covered the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Hassan Jumaa Marriage

On January 2016, he proposed to his long term girlfriend of over two years, Eve Buya and they have a son together. No one knows details of  the wedding but it may be soon or has already happened.
