Meet ‘Otonglo’, President Uhuru’s Adopted Son

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s children are well known to the public for a good number of reasons. They have all undertaken various businesses and initiatives which have placed them in the public limelight. However, Uhuru’s adopted son ‘Otonglo’ only stole the show once.

Daniel Owira won the hearts of many and gained instant fame after presenting a narrative titled ‘Otonglo’ in the annual Drama festivals winners’ concert at Statehouse Kenya. The hilarious narrative left the President, first lady and many other guests who had attended in stitches.

After his exemplary performance at Statehouse, Uhuru Kenyatta offered to take care of him owing to the fact that his family was not so well off. When the president took him under his wing, he declared him as one of his sons and asked him to hand him his report form every term. He also pledged to pay for his fees under the Kenyatta Trust Foundation until he was done with school.

Owira who was in form two at the time of his breakthrough has never ceased to thank God and the Kenyatta family for turning his life around. He was almost dropping out before Uhuru came to his rescue.

Currently, Daniel is a fourth year student at Multimedia University after obtaining a mean grade of C+. He is pursuing a degree in Journalism and Media Studies, Film and Animation. Daniel Owira also does business and deals in construction material and foodstuff.

Otonglo Fame

His rise to fame also saw him bag a role at Inspekta Mwala for a while and gigs with various supermarkets and telecommunications companies in Kenya. Daniel also mentors students and artists whenever he can.

However, Owira does not meet the Kenyatta family often because of their busy schedules. But whenever he can, Owira admits having a good time with the family.
